Go from day to night with this beautiful Roksanda dress! You can match it with fuschia pumps to pick up the pink and nude in the dress. If you're feeling extra snazzy, you can wear reflective sandals like the ones our stylist picked out. Either way, we suggest you start the day with Berry Berry lipstick and then add some Pink Taffy in the evening for that added glitz and glamor!
I've come across a number of situations where professional women despise being asked how they "balance work and family" when they are being interviewed for their professional accomplishments.
There are moments in your life that are totally earth-shattering, mind-boggling, transformational, and awe-inspiring to yourself. I haven't had a ton of them at this scale but last Tuesday was definitely one for the personal history books.
So I've always (secretly) dreamed of being on a TED stage one day, either as a subject matter expert or speaking on some deep feminist issue that I've been carrying around in my "belly" for years.
That day still hasn't come.
However, second best was me going to this years TEDWomen conference in gorgeous Palm Springs, California and truly having the time of my life!
Something that has become increasingly important to me as a solo-founder is establishing a sense of belonging during my work hours. It can get pretty lonely when you are faced with the challenges of starting a business and you are the ultimate decision-maker. Granted, I have excellent mentors, advisers, coaches, and team members but you often are pushed to make a final call that could be transformational or detrimental to your business and that can be nerve-wracking. That's what it means to be the CEO and founder of a growing company. I’ve found that re-thinking ‘belonging’ has been instrumental. While my business is too young to have a corporate board, it’s never too early to set up a bunch of ‘board-like’ relationships with various groups of people.
I am the founder and CEO of Bossy Cosmetics, a women’s empowerment and mission-driven brand masquerading as a beauty company. Odd way to describe our business but I think it’s the truth. We exist to ignite confidence in ambitious working women, and we do that by offering cruelty-free and gorgeous makeup products in addition to providing relevant topical content and essential services for these women.
Describe what you do (professionally) and how that came to be?
I am a human rights attorney, specialized in women’s rights. I think that I was born to work on social justice issues. My whole life I’ve been asking the same question: why is no one talking about what is happening to women and girls. This is what led me to found Women’s Link almost 20 years ago - to fight for the human rights of women and girls around the world.
Sitting close to the ocean on a beautiful island with my kids close enough for me to see them but far enough for me not to hear them! I'm reading a really intriguing fiction novel written by a truly awesome woman. My husband is somewhere close by doing whatever makes him happy. I'm drinking a gin and tonic. The weather is beautiful and my mind and heart are filled with gratitude. I'm really starting to get into this idea!!
