Mellody Hobson Bossy Cosmetics

2020 Forbes Power Women Summit

December 11, 2020

I am what the young folks call a "Mellody Hobson stan."   Her professional accomplishments would be otherworldly admirable for a white man and as a Black woman, they are stratospheric.  Mellody was recently named as Chair of the board of a whole Starbuck and she also sits on the board of JP Morgan.  In the world of corporate board dynamics, Mellody is head of the class and can teach this stuff in her sleep.  She's a mom, wife, leader, and she's a fearless executive who speaks openly about race in America.  I think that last point is why I really admire her.  If you have Black friends in corporate America, they will tell you that speak openly about race is an undue burden that will more than likely negatively impact your progression.  Mellody is showing us how to do it all and for this, I stan!

When the zoom video must be ON

November 10, 2020

Hey Boss,

Most days, I don't look like this photograph.

In fact, most mornings I roll out of bed and ensure my three boys get themselves ready and I either take them to school (if it's an in-school day) or ensure they are ready to sit for their lessons downstairs.

I am happy that Americans turned out in unprecedented numbers to vote for both sides of the aisle.  I am happy that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be at the reins at this very crucial time in our nation.  We need to be unified as a people and fight for our economy, equality, and progress for ALL.

What was that debate?

What was that debate?

September 30, 2020

First of all, I want to reiterate that Bossy Cosmetics is NOT a political organization nor does it have a political position in any election.

However, given that this is my blog, as the founder, I did want to share how exasperated I was by watching that debate last night.  It was completely unwieldy and disappointing because neither candidate was able to fully answer any question that really mattered to those voters who remain undecided in this important election.
