Monday Motivation: Empowered Women Empower Women (The 40x40 Initiative)

Empowered women empower women. This is a quote we should all live by, if we intend to support and uplift each other as women. What better way is there to support a fellow woman if not to empower them in ways that would be beneficial to her future and life.

Empowerment can be done in different ways as it is not a one size fits all action. If we find ourselves in positions where other women look up to us, then we must rise to the challenge or step up to the plate as they say. Sometimes women who are higher in their career tend to seem like they distance themselves from the women who are at lower levels to gain more respect from their peers. Achieving equal rights starts with us treating each other as equals.

Alone we have limited power; collectively we have impact. Raising each other up and channeling the power of collaboration is how we’ll change the equation—and have fun while at it. Society wants us to believe that we cannot get along or work together or support one another, which is wrong on every ground.

Ways in which we can empower other women can be through education, giving them a voice, empowering them with knowledge and resources to run their own businesses and empowering them to drive the change.

To celebrate her 40th birthday, the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle launched a 40x40 Initiative. The club is about asking 40 of the friends to commit 40 minutes of their time to support and mentor women in the workforce due to the effect of the pandemic around the world.

Meghan said in the announcement. “Over 2 million women in the U.S. alone and tens of millions around the world have lost their jobs due to COVID, and I think if we all do it, and all commit 40 minutes to some sort of act of service, we can create a ripple effect.”

Knowing that our community is built around women that are ambitious, we urge you to participate and devote 40 minutes of your time to mentorship or service to a cause that you care about. Give this time back to a woman in your community or at work, school, or wherever you decide to. Just pay it forward, so we can be the change we want to see in the world.

Our founder, Aisha is also taking part of this initiative. Check out her post here and let her know what you would like her to devote her 40 minutes to.

Have the most amazing week!
